It's Electric!

This is a picture of our class making circuits with a D cell, some wires and a light bulb. We learned that energy alway travels from the negative side of a d -cell because electrons travel the same direction.

Also here are some pictures of edible circuits that we made in class.  These circuits will make your eyes light up and your mouth start to drool!

Fun facts

In case you did not know this, the difference between an open circuit and closed circuit is that a closed circuit is when a handle (or what ever you are using as a switch) is touching the clip so that the electricity can pass through.  The open circuit is when the switch is not touching the clip so the electrons can not pass through.

Meteorologists In the House!

Human Resources reporting: We are wrapping up studying weather, and we
are also finishing it off by doing fake weather reports with a partner.

We were able to make up a fake forecast for the United States of our state of South Carolina. We used our weather tools to make predictions and forecast the weather like real meteorologists. We even recorded the videos on out ipads.

Weather Tools and Explorers

Hi this is human recourses talking for 4A Mobile. We have been studying weather and weather tools. We've also been studying explorers like Eric the Red, Leif Ericson, and Prince Henry the Navigator.

We've had a great time learning about tools like the barometer, thermometer, anamometer, wind vain, and rain gauge. Here's a photo of an anamometer we made in class.

Cloud Observations

Cloud Watching

Three times this week we looked at clouds and recorded
our observations in our science notebooks

Here is what our observations look like!

We also got into groups of three to sort weather facts into two
piles: agree and disagree. After we watched a video, we checked our answers.

We learned mainly about stratus (low, blanket clouds), cumulus
(cotton ball-like clouds), and cirrus (wispy horse tail clouds).

Water Cycle Bracelet

We finished our lessons on the water cycle and made a bracelet to help us remember:

Yellow: Sun (Sun's energy drives the water cycle)
Clear: Evaporation (Water heats up and changes into vapor)
White: Condensation (Water condenses in the atmosphere creating clouds)
Blue: Precipitation (Water droplets get too heavy and fall to Earth)
Green: Runoff (Water returns to the oceans, rivers, streams, and groundwater)

Great Review!

During our research, the R&D Department found these
great activities to go along with our water cycle unit.

Our Marketing Department made a powerpoint presentation: Water Cycle!
Check out the Marketing Department showing us what they made.

 Water Cycle

Hello everyone-

We have been studying the water cycle for the past week.  We have making foldables, taking notes, and studying the four repeating steps of the water cycle.  If anyone has anything interesting facts, questions, or articles about the water cycle to send in, please feel free.  We have a video link of a water cycle rap from TeacherTube.   You may explore TeacherTube to see more water cycle videos.
